QCS End of Year Update

Posted on May 19, 2020

May 18, 2020

Dear QCS Parents,

We’re on the home stretch – the end of the school year is in sight! In an effort to provide our families with a smooth ending to the 2019/2020 academic year, teachers will be wrapping up planned instruction by May 29th. The following week, June 1st-5th, will be a time for students needing to catch up the ability to focus on completing their work and finishing well. Please note that assignments will not be accepted after June 10th, unless prior arrangements have been made with your teacher. For those families wishing to maximize their child’s learning opportunities after May 29th, teachers will provide supplementary lessons and enrichment activities. For middle and high school students that are currently enrolled in online courses through Edgenuity, please refer to Mr. Wright’s previous guidelines or contact him directly with questions or concerns.

Details are now being finalized for the scheduling of a safe return of materials including textbooks and QCS Chromebooks. This will occur June 8th through June 10th. Look for more information to follow.

Sincerely,

Timothy N. Gray, M.A., D.B.A. (abd)
Head of School

Unfortunately, the annual QCS Chicken BBQ, Auction and Community Day has been canceled.  Most of the activities and events will be enjoyed together this fall when we are together again! We look forward to seeing everyone October 9 & 10th, 2020 for QCS Fall Festival & Homecoming.

There will be great food, including the chicken BBQ, live and online auction preview, games and fun for the entire family! Mark your calendars! Click here to read the letter

Learning Continues at Home

Posted on April 17, 2020

Things look different for everyone these days! As students and staff departed the QCS campus on Friday, March 13th, no one had any idea it would be the last time they would be together this school year. Leadership and staff swiftly launched a plan for online learning for students. Each family was issued a Chromebook and learning continued! It’s not all been easy but we are so thankful for and proud of our supportive families and our dedicated staff! We are blessed to have a strong community that has worked together to make it work, offering dynamic teaching, maintaining, and supporting connection even though we are apart.

Student Technology Update

Posted on April 10, 2020

Quakertown Christian School responded quickly to the COVID-19 crisis and transitioned to remote learning within the first two weeks of school closures in Pennsylvania. Every QCS family was issued a Chromebook computer to allow students to continue their education at home. Students in first grade through high school use Chromebooks daily in the classroom. Realizing that many parents may be unfamiliar with Chromebooks and how QCS uses them in education, our IT Director has provided some important information that may be helpful.

QCS Update April 10

Posted on April 10, 2020

Dear QCS Families,
The coronavirus pandemic has presented us all with some of the most challenging times we have ever experienced in the Quakertown Christian School community. On April 9, 2020, Governor Tom Wolf announced that all school buildings in the state of Pennsylvania would remain closed through the end of the school year.

Due to COVID-19 and Pennsylvania’s state-wide precautions, and per the Governor’s order, Quakertown Christian School will continue to provide remote and online teaching for its students as long as it is needed.  Please check back regularly for updates. Your prayer support is appreciated for the staff & faculty of QCS as well as our country.

In compliance with the restrictions placed on non-essential businesses and the quarantine conditions, QCS will not be keeping open office hours at the QCS campus until further notice. Our staff and faculty have worked hard in the last week to transition education to an online delivery platform. With the issuing of Chromebooks to each family, we believe the tools are in place to see success. What does this mean for your students? We are able to provide continuity in education at this time that many schools are not equipped to provide.

Dr. Bishop, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, will be explaining (through a Blog) what this form of education will look like and how it will operate. Given the restrictions laid down by PA Governor Thomas Wolf, we are exploring a variety of options for content delivery and instruction.

Pending a significant improvement to this unprecedented event, we are realistically looking at the end of April or early May as the most optimistic forecast of a return to school as we all have known it. We also need to be prepared for the real possibility that the rest of the current school year may consist of primarily online curriculum and instruction. Regardless of whether it happens through on-campus or through distance learning, QCS remains committed to equipping students to be leaders through an exceptional education within a culture emphasizing Christ-like love, peacemaking, and service.

QCS Classes Suspended

Posted on March 23, 2020

Dear QCS Families,

Due to the unprecedented situation before us and in the interest of safety and caution, QCS will be closing starting Monday, March 16th. The length of time for this shutdown is tentatively 3 weeks, as such, we plan on returning April 6th. This timeline may move depending on how this event unfolds.
Easter break may be impacted by any return as well, which will be communicated at a later time.

As of March 13th at 3:00 pm, all extracurricular activities are suspended or canceled until further notice. This includes athletics, drama, and clubs. Today’s extended care will be provided. Future events will be reviewed as more information is gathered.

March 16th-19th the campus will be closed to all QCS families. This is to allow staff time to transition traditional educational materials to online delivery. In addition, this will also allow staff to assess their own families’ needs. On Friday, March 20th we will have materials available per class to be picked up from campus between the hours of 9:00 am-3:00 pm. These hours will be available the week of the 23rd and the 30th as well, this will aid in continuity of education. Middle School and High School students are to login to RenWeb and their Google accounts to continue learning via our online platforms. Chromebooks will be issued to each family starting next Friday to assist in this education continuity. Teachers can be emailed directly for questions regarding work and timelines, starting next Thursday.

For questions and concerns, please reach out to the school staff via email. Due to the regional, national and global nature of this event, we appreciate the extra measure of grace extended to each other during this challenging time.

Finally, as in all things, please be praying for all those impacted.

Sincerely,
Tim Gray

QCS Update March 12

Posted on March 12, 2020

Dear QCS Parent/Guardian,

We are closely monitoring the current Corona virus news and updates; the health
and wellbeing of our staff and families is at the forefront. To err on the side of
caution please keep your child home from school if they are sick or experiencing
any cold or flu-like symptoms. As always, children should be fever free for 24
hours before returning to school. Also, please know that if a child is seen in the
nurse’s office with a fever, they will be sent home.

We thank you for your understanding during this time!

Some simple things you can do to help keep yourself and others healthy:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

Update March 12 #2

Posted on March 12, 2020

In accordance with Governor Wolf’s directive, all schools in Montgomery County
will be closed effective Friday March 13 and at this time will remain closed for 2
weeks. QCS students from Upper Perkiomen, Souderton and North Penn school
districts should not report for school at QCS starting tomorrow. Teachers will be
in communication with parents and students regarding academics.

All QCS students from other districts should report for school at the normal time
on Friday.

We will continue to update with information as we receive it. Your prayers are
appreciated as we discern best steps to keep our QCS community safe.

Thank you,
QCS Leadership Team

Letter from QCS Head of School

Posted on March 3, 2020

Dear QCS Parent/Guardian,

With the safety and well-being of students always in mind, QCS Administration has been keeping a close eye on the coronavirus outbreak around the globe. QCS has procedures in place for reportable or communicable illnesses, including the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

There are NO reported cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 connected to the Quakertown Christian School or the state of Pennsylvania at this time.

QCS will continue to monitor this situation and work closely with the Bucks County Office of Public Health. If there were a confirmed case of the coronavirus in our community, guidance and information would immediately be distributed to our families.

Please see the additional important information below from the Centers for Disease Control:

  • The risk of getting COVID-19 in the U.S. is currently low.
  • Some people who have traveled to places where many people have gotten sick
with COVID-19 may be monitored by health officials to protect their health and the
health of other people in the community.
